El zurdo Otero (3-0) se hizo amo y señor de los bates azules en 5.0 entradas en blanco, en las que únicamente permitió tres hits, aunque dio tres transferencias y ponchó a uno, para lograr la victoria, que fue ratificada por el estelar cerrador oriental Wirfin Obispo, quien lanzó el noveno sin piedad, con dos ponches, para su salvamento número 12 de la contienda.

Este domingo se confirmó la muerte del expelotero Osvaldo Virgil, quien fue el primer dominicano en llegar a las Grandes Ligas del Béisbol. La información fue confirmada por Junior Noboa, comisionado nacional de béisbol. Virgil, nacido el 17 de mayo de 1933, en Monte Cristi, debutó en las Grandes Ligas en 1956.
