Nueva York.- El cantante estadounidense Justin Timberlake, arrestado la pasada noche y puesto en libertad en la mañana de este martes, ha sido acusado de conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol y de saltarse una señal de tráfico.
Timberlake, de 43 años, salía de un hotel en la lujosa zona de los Hamptons -unas playas muy apreciadas por los ricos neoyorquinos- y se puso al frente de su vehículo BMW con el que casi de inmediato se saltó una señal de stop (alto), mientras no conseguía siquiera mantenerse en su carril.
Interceptado por un agente de tráfico, a quien llamaron la atención «sus ojos rojos y vidriosos» -según el informe policial filtrado a varios medios-, se negó en un primer momento a hacerse la prueba etílica, alegando que había tomado «solo un martini», aunque el agente anotó que «su aliento despedía un fuerte olor a alcohol».
El tabloide Page Six bromeó con que el policía debía ser muy joven porque desconocía la figura de Timberlake y cuando le oyó decir «Esto me va a arruinar la gira», preguntó «¿Qué gira?», a lo que el artista aún replicó, «¡Mi gira mundial!».
Efectivamente, Timberlake se encuentra inmerso en la gira ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour’, cuya próxima parada es Chicago (Illinois) los próximos viernes y sábado, para regresar luego a Nueva York y continuar en Boston (Massachusetts), pero no parece que el incidente le vaya a impedir seguir con ella, pues su próxima citación es para el 26 de julio.
Timberlake ha reconocido en el pasado que ha consumido marihuana cuando era mucho más joven «para apagar su mente», o que en el Festival de Coachella consumió «muchas sustancias diferentes».
