SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.-El presidente Leonel Fernández dispuso ayer la construcción y terminación de varias obras en la provincia Puerto Plata, a un costo de RD$3, 000 mil millones.
Las obras comprenden la construcción de la carretera Navarrete-Puerto Plata, de cuatro carriles, con una inversión de US$150 millones, el acueducto de Imbert por un monto de RD$216 millones y la reparación y reconstrucción de todas las redes del municipio Altamira, con una inversión de de RD$800 millones.
Durante un encuentro con dirigentes comunitarios de Altamira, Imbert y Puerto Plata, donde escuchó sus principales necesidades, el jefe de Estado garantizó además que en un período de dos meses visitará nuevamente la provincia, a los fines de inaugurar las obras de corto plazo que serán construidas.
Sostuvo que entre los trabajos cuyo período de terminación no excederán los 45 días, son el asfaltado de las calles de Altamira, los caminos vecinales, el dispensario médico y el multiuso.
Indicó que en esta última etapa de su gobierno tiene previsto visitar las diferentes comunidades y dar soluciones a las pequeñas obras que no han sido terminadas.
Dijo que actualmente se ejecutan los pasos necesarios para realizar construcciones planificadas que conviertan a Puerto Plata en una ciudad modelo que sirva de referencia para América Latina y el Mundo, para lo cual, según explicó, se han realizado encuentros con estudiantes de postgrado de la Universidad de Columbia de Nueva York, a fin de que las maquetas y estudios adecuados puedan ser utilizados para esos fines.
Señaló que ese proyecto se tiene programado para los próximos 20 años “y espero estar vivo para contemplar esa moderna ciudad que será Puerto Plata con su desarrollo urbanístico, que estarán ubicadas las viviendas, estaciones, centros comerciales, cementerios, hoteles”.
Asimismo, prometió concluir numerosas obras, iniciar otras y regresar a la zona en unos dos meses para inaugurar muchas de las que ya estarán terminadas.
Fernández realizó un recorrido por varios municipios de esta provincia, y estableció contacto directo con las comunidades. Visitó los sectores Playa Oeste y Padre las Casas en la ciudad de Puerto Plata, luego siguió hasta Montellano y Sosúa, donde escuchó la solicitud de representantes de instituciones comunitarias, religiosas y productoras.
Las principales obras requeridas eran centros médicos, carreteras, caminos vecinales, acueductos, proyectos productivos y energéticos.
